INTERPRETATION
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES are a pre-condition for innovative insights
and the political will to carry them out. These three items of HUMAN ADAPTATION
condition the TECHNICAL CONSTRAINTS leading to dynamic equilibrium, a pure
cycle, and the production of goods and services needed to maintain or raise the
STANDARD OF LIVING OF THE ENTIRE SOCIETY. Such a higher standard is a
pre-condition for the improvement of EDUCATIONAL SERVICES. And so on, in an
ascending spiral of conditions of a growing economy. One loop of the spiral is
shown above. The seven arrows signify probabilities (whether large or small or
zero, either positive or negative) pointing towards a conditional consequence
from its conditioning antecedent.
This is based on Lonergan's account of EMERGENT PROBABILITY where he says that
the divergent series of positive conditions for an event "might tend to
coil around in a circle." [Page 141 and ff. in "Insight: A Study of
